AMD announces it will resume exporting AI chips to China
According to a report by Cankaoxiaoxi.com citing the website of Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao on July 16, US chip company Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) said it plans to restart exports of its MI308 chip to China after the US announced it would approve sales. Previously, the US made a similar decision on a chip from Nvidia. According to reports, an AMD spokesperson said on July 15 that the US Department of Commerce informed the company that the license application for the MI308 product would enter the review process. The MI308 chip is an AI accelerator designed by AMD specifically for the Chinese market.
