Agency: Latin American smartphone market fell 4% year-on-year in the first quarter
According to the latest data from market research firm Canalys, in the first quarter of 2025, the smartphone market in Latin America fell 4% year-on-year, ending six consecutive quarters of growth, with total shipments of 33.7 million units. Samsung ranked first with 11.9 million units shipped, a year-on-year increase of 7%. Xiaomi ranked second for the second consecutive quarter with 5.9 million units, a year-on-year increase of 10%. Motorola dropped to third place with 5.2 million units shipped, a year-on-year decrease of 13%. Honor, with a year-on-year increase of 2%, shipped 2.6 million units, rose to fourth place thanks to the strong performance of the X series, and continued its growth momentum. Transsion ranked fifth with 2.1 million units shipped, a sharp year-on-year decline of 38%, the first decline in the region, mainly affected by fierce competition and channel inventory adjustments.
