Brazil's antitrust watchdog recommends ruling that Apple's iOS ecosystem is anti-competitive
Brazil's antitrust regulator, the Economic Defense and Administration Commission (CADE), issued a statement on June 30, recommending a ruling against Apple, accusing the latter of anti-competitive behavior in the iOS ecosystem. Previously, Latin American e-commerce platform MercadoLibre and other companies filed a complaint in 2022, alleging that Apple was suspected of restricting the distribution of digital goods and in-app purchases. CADE said that the investigation found that Apple had engaged in abusive behavior and recommended fines and behavioral remedies to address the anti-competitive issues that have been discovered.
