CATL: New sodium passenger car power batteries will be mass-produced next year
CATL stated on an interactive platform that sodium-ion batteries have a slightly lower energy density than lithium-ion batteries, but have greater advantages in low-temperature performance, carbon footprint, and safety. Specifically, the new sodium battery will help develop the cold-weather market and broaden the regional boundaries of new energy applications; the energy density of the new sodium battery reaches 175Wh/kg, and it has a pure electric range of over 500 kilometers, which can cover over 40% of the domestic passenger car market demand and has a broad target market space; the company's sodium battery pack combines the high compatibility of No. 20 and No. 25 standard packs/battery swap packs and is suitable for all models of standard pack/battery swap pack car manufacturers. Currently, the company's new sodium passenger car power battery is being developed and implemented with customers, and progress is smooth. Mass production will be achieved next year according to the customer's pace.
