On May 14, the Indian Cabinet announced the approval of the joint venture factory project between HCL and Foxconn in Uttar Pradesh. The factory will produce display driver chips for mobile phones, laptops, cars, personal computers and other devices, with a designed monthly production capacity of 20,000 wafers and the ability to produce 36 million display driver chips. The statement said the investment in the project could reach 37 billion Indian rupees (about 435 million US dollars).
