Hong Kong will issue new regulations restricting the number of Uber drivers and vehicles, according to Bloomberg.

The report states that Uber is sending emails to 30,000 Uber drivers and 1.5 million people who have used the service in the past year in Hong Kong, expressing concerns about the rules being developed by Hong Kong.

The company warned that the Hong Kong government may restrict the number of drivers or vehicles allowed on the platform.

According to the email content, any such restrictions would reduce drivers' earning opportunities and may lead to more order cancellations and longer waiting times.

The report indicate that Hong Kong is expected to release new regulations for ride-hailing platforms in the coming months.

Angela Lee Chung-yan, Commissioner for Transport in Hong Kong, stated in February that the government believes it is necessary to enact legislation to regulate ride-hailing platforms to ensure that the transportation services provided through the platforms are legal and compliant, thereby providing safe and convenient transportation services for the public.

She noted that the agency's goal is to establish a regulatory framework by the end of this year and consult with the Legislative Council.
