Liu Qiangdong, chairman of the board of directors of JD.com Group, said at a small-scale sharing session that JD.com's international business strategy is local e-commerce and building a local team. "We already have more than 2,000 employees, procure locally, ship locally, and only sell branded goods." Liu Qiangdong said that JD.com's international business does not follow the cross-border e-commerce model, "I firmly believe that the cross-border e-commerce model is unsustainable in the long run." Liu Qiangdong revealed that JD.com has been working in Europe for three years and the infrastructure has been basically built. In terms of product selection, Liu Qiangdong said that JD.com's international strategy is different from Amazon. "We signed 1,000 Chinese brands in the early stage. Our definition is that if these 1,000 Chinese brands succeed, we will succeed." Liu Qiangdong said that it may take another five years. "These 1,000 Chinese brands need to be negotiated one by one, and they need to be compliant and certified locally. A lot of work needs to be done, and it may take another five years to bring all these 1,000 brands overseas."
