At the 8th Catering Industry Conference on October 16th, Wei Wei, Vice President of Meituan and General Manager of its In-Store Catering Division, stated that a vibrant dine-in business is the most important characteristic of a thriving restaurant industry. The industry is entering a period of profound restructuring, and Meituan must be a long-term companion to quality catering. "Quality catering has never been a 'passenger traffic'; it's the 'foundation of the industry' that we must protect." Over the past year, Meituan and Dianping have explored three key areas: ecosystem optimization, service innovation, and operational upgrades. According to Wei Wei, to build a more conducive environment for quality catering, the Black Pearl and Must-Eat Lists will be expanded to more cities. Meituan has also established a Dining Committee to work with quality restaurants to address the current market environment. The star rating system will also be further upgraded to address pain points such as involutionary reviews and false reviews, severely punish deliberate and malicious reviews, and help restaurants acquire more healthy data assets.
