He said that users' conversations with ChatGPT are not currently legally confidential. Altman said this could raise user privacy issues in litigation because OpenAI is currently required by law to provide records of these conversations. "I think this is very bad, and I think conversations with AI should enjoy the same privacy protection as consulting a therapist - and no one would have even thought of this issue a year ago," Altman said.
