Market research firm Canalys released a report today stating that the foldable smartphone market is undergoing a critical period of technological innovation and product iteration in 2025. Manufacturers have successfully addressed the long-standing issues of bulk and weight that have plagued consumers through breakthrough engineering technologies, propelling foldable phones into a new stage of development. Global foldable phone shipments remained stable at approximately 6.6 million units in the first half of 2025, but showed significant regional variations. The Chinese market saw a 32.8% year-on-year increase, becoming the largest global highlight, primarily driven by the Huawei Mate and PuraX series. Canalys predicts that global foldable phone shipments will remain around 15.2 million units in 2025, but will experience explosive growth in 2026, with a projected 51% year-on-year surge in shipments.
