The three major U.S. stock indices closed higher, reaching new closing highs. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.29%, the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.94%, and the S&P 500 rose 0.48%. Chip stocks strengthened, with Intel up over 22%, Applied Materials and ASML up over 6%, and Micron Technology up over 5%.
