Toyota China responds to "channel reform": a misunderstanding
Recently, media reports have claimed that Toyota Motor Corporation has implemented a channel reform, primarily adopting a "single-city, single-store" model. Specifically, each city will retain only one joint venture brand 4S dealership, selling the full range of GAC Toyota and FAW Toyota models. On October 23rd, a representative from Toyota China responded to this report, stating that the report was misinterpreted. Toyota China is currently piloting joint sales in a very small number of lower-tier cities where only FAW Toyota or GAC Toyota operate. This initiative aims to provide consumers with more convenient service and a wider range of product choices. This is a very small-scale pilot, not a forced categorization of all regions or a single channel.
