Typhoon Hashima, the 18th typhoon of the year, strengthened to a severe typhoon last night (September 20th). At 5:00 a.m. this morning, its center was located over the northwestern Pacific Ocean, about 770 kilometers east-northeast of Manila, Philippines. Hashima is expected to continue moving northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour, increasing in intensity. It will cross the Bashi Channel on the 22nd and enter the northeastern South China Sea early in the morning of the 23rd, heading toward the Guangdong coast. Typhoon Hashima, the 19th typhoon of the year, strengthened to a super typhoon this morning. At 5:00 a.m., its center was located over the northwestern Pacific Ocean, about 1,600 kilometers east-southeast of Tokyo, Japan. Hashima is expected to move northwestward at 15-20 kilometers per hour, increasing in intensity, and gradually turn northeastward after the 23rd.
