White House begins review of SpaceX federal contracts
On June 13 local time, CCTV reporters learned that people familiar with the matter reported that earlier this month, the White House instructed the Department of Defense and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to collect detailed information on SpaceX's multi-billion dollar contracts. This move was taken after US President Trump and Musk had a public conflict. People familiar with the matter said that in preparation for possible retaliatory measures against Musk and his company, the government has ordered relevant agencies to carefully review its contracts, which has triggered an ongoing review. It is not clear whether the White House plans to cancel SpaceX's existing federal contracts totaling approximately US$22 billion. But this review shows that the Trump administration is fulfilling the threat he made during his dispute with Musk last week, that it may terminate business dealings and subsidy support with Musk's companies. In an email to Reuters, a White House spokesman did not directly respond to questions about Musk's companies, only saying: "The Trump administration is committed to rigorous review of all bids and contracts."
