Xinhua Commentary: The two-day China-US economic and trade talks concluded in Madrid, Spain, on the 15th. Guided by the strategic consensus reached during the call between the two presidents, the two teams engaged in candid, in-depth, and constructive communication, reaching a basic framework consensus on properly resolving the TikTok issue through a cooperative approach, reducing investment barriers, and promoting relevant economic and trade cooperation. This hard-won achievement signifies that, building on the positive momentum of previous rounds of talks, the two sides have once again reached consensus through rational dialogue, which serves the interests of both sides. The essence of China-US economic and trade relations is mutual benefit and win-win results. Cooperation benefits both sides, while conflict hurts both. We hope that the US side will take the basic framework consensus reached during these talks as a new starting point, work with China halfway, demonstrate sincerity and take concrete actions, promptly lift restrictions on China, cease oppression of Chinese companies, and jointly safeguard the hard-earned outcomes of the talks. On this basis, both sides should continue to implement the important consensus reached by the two presidents, give full play to the role of the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism, continuously enhance consensus, resolve differences, and push China-US economic and trade relations back on the track of healthy, stable, and sustainable development.
