UBS raises WuXi AppTec's target price to HK$138.4 and raises its earnings per share forecast for this year

UBS published a report stating that WuXi AppTec's revenue in the third quarter increased by 15% year-on-year to 12.1 billion yuan, exceeding the bank's and market forecasts of 11.4 billion yuan and 11.5 billion yuan; net profit increased by 53% year-on-year to 3.5 billion yuan, exceeding the bank's and market forecasts of 3.3 billion yuan and 3.1 billion yuan. As of the end of the third quarter, the backlog of orders for continuing operations increased by 41% year-on-year to 59.9 billion yuan. The company also announced the divestiture of its clinical contract research organization/site management organization business, with an initial transaction price of 2.8 billion yuan. The bank believes that the sale is beneficial to WuXi AppTec as the company can focus on its core contract research, development and manufacturing organization business and its global expansion. The bank raised its earnings per share forecast for the company this year by 23.4%, and its earnings forecast for next year to 2028 by 0.3% to 0.9%; the target price was raised from HK$136.1 to HK$138.4, and the rating was "buy".

Buchang Pharmaceutical: Holding subsidiary signed technical service contract with total amount of 10.8 million yuan

Buchang Pharmaceutical announced that its controlling subsidiary, Luzhou Buchang, recently signed a technical service contract with WuXi AppTec to conduct pharmacokinetic and toxicology testing projects. The total contract value is RMB 10.8 million, including 6% tax, and will be paid in installments as agreed in the contract. This move will help expand the company's drug R&D capabilities and scope, reduce time and costs associated with clinical trials, and ensure the smooth progress of the project.

News reports circulated across investment circles that the Trump administration is considering strict restrictions on pharmaceuticals imported from China, including a draft executive order that could disrupt experimental therapies invented in China, potentially impacting the US pharmaceutical industry and limiting the availability of generic drugs and advanced therapies. However, the White House stated that it was not "actively considering" the draft order.
