Embraer: US tariffs will cost billions of dollars
2025-07-29 07:17:09

On July 28, local time, Francisco Gomez Neto, president of Embraer, said in an interview with local media that it is expected that the additional tariffs imposed by the United States may cause order cancellations and layoffs, causing billions of dollars in losses to the company. According to internal estimates of Embraer, if the 50% tariff is implemented, the company will pay an additional 50 million reais (about 64.2306 million yuan) for each aircraft, and may lead to negative effects such as order cancellations, delivery delays, investment cuts and even layoffs. Previously, SkyWest Airlines of the United States said it had ordered 74 jet aircraft produced by Embraer, and the contract is valid until 2032. If the tariff policy is implemented, the two sides are considering negotiating to postpone delivery until the tariff issue is resolved. Embraer is the world's third largest passenger aircraft manufacturer after Boeing and Airbus. Some of the parts and engines used by the company are produced in the United States. The United States is one of the main export markets for Embraer. According to statistics, the sales of commercial aircraft and business jets sold by Embraer to the United States account for 45% and 70% of the company's total sales, respectively.
