Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport's fifth runway successfully completed a test flight
On July 30th, a China Southern Airlines Boeing 777-300ER landed smoothly on Runway 5 at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, marking the successful completion of the field verification flight test for Runway 5 and paving the way for the runway's official operation. Under the leadership of the Civil Aviation Administration of China's Central and Southern Air Traffic Control Bureau, an elite crew from China Southern Airlines' Flight Team participated in the design and development of the procedures. They successfully overcame adverse weather conditions and completed a high-quality verification flight covering ten disciplines, including conventional arrivals and departures, PBN procedures, and non-precision approaches. The flight test primarily verified Runway 5's communications, navigation, and surveillance, visual aids, airfield pavement and markings, airfield clearance, and the flight procedures designed for all five runways. Final verification confirmed that the entire test flight was smooth and orderly, with all flight indicators performing normally and meeting industry standards.
