Huawei's Eric Xu: Cars must be able to perceive and make decisions autonomously during autonomous driving, without relying on the network

During the 2025 Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai, Huawei's rotating chairman Xu Zhijun said when talking about the development of 5G and intelligent connected cars that the current 5G Internet of Vehicles faces challenges such as 5G IPR (intellectual property) issues and uneven user experience. Xu Zhijun believes that cars must be able to perceive and make decisions autonomously during the autonomous driving process, without relying on the network. Both the cockpit and the entire vehicle need to be connected to the network, but they have different needs and business models, and should be independent and connected separately. The connection of the cockpit must comply with the B2C business model, share the smartphone ecosystem, and allow consumers to choose the connection method and purchase traffic independently. The whole vehicle T-BOX connection complies with the B2B business model, and the connection method continues to be determined by the car company.
