India's Supreme Court has ordered the Indian government and the DGCA to respond to a lawsuit filed regarding the Air India crash, which seeks an independent investigation into the incident. On June 12th of this year, an Air India Boeing 787-8 en route from India to the UK crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad Airport in Gujarat, India, killing over 200 people, including those on the ground. India's Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) released a preliminary investigation report on July 12th, stating that the aircraft's fuel tap had accidentally switched from "run" to "cut off" before the crash, interrupting fuel flow to the engine. The Safety Affairs Foundation, an aviation safety NGO, filed a public interest lawsuit, alleging that the preliminary investigation report concealed crucial information and violated citizens' fundamental rights to life, equality, and access to truthful information. The Supreme Court has ordered the Indian government and the DGCA to respond to these allegations.
