As my country's autonomous driving companies accelerate their overseas expansion, the issue of automobile data going abroad has attracted attention. Recently, the "Guidelines for the Security of Automobile Data Going Abroad (2025 Edition) (Draft for Comments)" drafted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other eight departments was released and publicly solicited for comments. The "Guidelines" proposes a variety of situations in which data outbound security assessments must be reported, and driving automation scenarios are one of them. For specific scenarios, the "Guidelines" further clarify the important data types and judgment criteria for data outbound security assessments that need to be reported. Industry insiders said that the important data of autonomous driving companies includes three categories: vehicle operating status data, road environment and personnel data, and privacy data of people in the car. In addition to constraints through policies and standards, companies must also establish a data security management system and can use technical means to conduct full-chain control, such as establishing a data cross-border flow risk warning system to identify and assess risks in a timely manner.
