On June 25, Dong Kun, general manager of Tesla's China Energy Business, introduced that the first phase of Tesla's first grid-side energy storage power station project in mainland China is expected to be completed and put into operation this year, with an energy storage scale of 300 MWh (megawatt-hours). Tesla announced last week that Kangao Energy, a subsidiary of China Kangfu, will be the implementing entity, with a total investment of 4 billion yuan in the Lingang New Area of Shanghai, using Tesla Megapack energy storage system to build a grid-side independent energy storage power station demonstration project. The overall planning of the energy storage project reaches the GWh (gigawatt-hour) level. On February 11 this year, Tesla's Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory was officially put into production and started capacity ramp-up. The product of the factory is Tesla Megapack energy storage system, with a planned annual production capacity of 40 GWh. It is Tesla's first energy storage super factory outside the United States. Hundreds of Megapack energy storage systems produced by the Shanghai Energy Storage Super Factory have been exported to many countries and regions in Europe and Oceania, and deliveries to domestic industrial and commercial energy storage customers have also been started simultaneously.
